Engineering origins
Omar began his engineering career at GE Appliances in 2009. The early years were a grounding in how products are actually made and kept running: operations, supplier quality and the discipline of getting details right at scale.
That foundation, practical and detail-driven, still shapes how he approaches a problem.
Manufacturing leadership
His experience widened into advanced manufacturing and the defense industry, settings where reliability is not optional. Most recently Omar has led the Digital Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team, supporting innovation across product lines.
It is work that rewards clear thinking, careful testing and teams that trust their equipment.
A longstanding pull toward the water
Running alongside the engineering career is a longstanding interest in marine biology. It inspired a commitment to protecting wildlife and the habitats they depend on, and it has shaped how Omar spends time outside work.
Engineering meets conservation
Outside his professional career, Omar has volunteered and applied technical problem-solving to water-quality monitoring, marine-debris concerns and the equipment challenges faced by wildlife rescue organizations.
Conservation is full of practical engineering questions: instruments that must be dependable, equipment that must hold up, and teams that need tools they can trust. Connecting engineering with those needs is what interests him most.
