Proposed focus area

The Yamuna through Delhi: a great river under pressure from a great city.

Geography and context

India's rivers carry cultural meaning as well as water. The Yamuna rises in the Himalayan foothills, crosses the northern plains and passes through Delhi before eventually joining the Ganges.

The stretch through the capital region is where the river meets the demands of a very large urban population. That is why it is our proposed starting point in India.
